Made for a show following the release of Social D's record Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes, this poster illustrates what I interpreted to be the prelude to song "Bakersfield," one of my favorites on the album. The central figure, who may or may not be a self portrait, steps off an old-timey bus at the Bakersfield depot. There are posters on the wall for upcoming shows (the opening acts for Social D) and a sign for a cryptically named pawn shop in the distance at the end of the one-way street. the worm's eye vantage point and atmosphere add an air of oppression, so the hope and promise of playing a new town is compressed into the aching dread of never leaving. This one is large (22"x30") and printed in metallic gold, red, and black on natural finish paper. Enjoy!
